We’re halfway through 2023!

By Chloé Enoch

Can you believe we’re already halfway through 2023! Let’s take a look at these past few months and relive some of our top moments from 2023 so far!

January

NEW YEAR, NEW ENERGY

We started the year off with our MLK celebration: “Reset and Restore,” our way of honoring ourselves during the holiday. Members such as the Calm/ Cool Collective, Keisha Igbazua of Mama’s Reiki Love, and Colleen Thomas of Soul Care LA, led the event. We were able to clear our energy with Reiki, start to ground ourselves for the year ahead, and set intentions for the new year through contemplative prayer!

February

CELEBRATING BLACK FUTURES

February kicked off Black Futures Month, a time here at Ìpàdé where we recognize and focus on creating a vibrant future for all Black people by promoting their work and hosting networking opportunities. One of our favorite events that we hosted this month included our group art exhibition and soiree, an event centered aon Black Joy Prosperity, Leisure, Sensuality, and Spirituality in the future. This event was an opportunity to meet local artists, purchase art work, and mingle with other art lovers alike.

March

MARCH IS THE MONTH OF THE WOMAN

In March we celebrated Women’s History Month by highlighting some of our oh so fabulous members on our Instagram. If you haven’t already, be sure to check us out over there @ipadewoc! BUT what better way to celebrate being a woman than being able to upgrade! Que Upgrade by Beyonce’. WE ANNOUNCED OUR NEW LOCATION… and began the move that April! Now, we’re in a space that is even bigger and better than our last and will be the perfect creative space for women and people of color every month of the year!

April

ITS OUR ANNIVERSARY

Ìpàdé turns 1! Cheers to a successful first year! We’ve come so far, and are so proud to be able to continue to provide a safe and beautiful space for coworking, connection, and celebration.

May

IN MAY WE BLOSSOMED

During the Month of May we partnered yet again with one of our amazing co-working members, Stephanie Kimou, to bring you our first “Kiki and Connection” event. Kiki and Connection is a new series focused on industry-specific networking and educational events. Stephanie served as our first featured guest for this series, focused on Black women in international development and global health. It was a nice way to kick off a tradition of stellar networking, good vibes, and liberation!

June

In June, we commemorated Juneteenth and brought in the summer season with “Black Soulstice: A Juneteenth Summer Jam.” This event was led by member Shakeelah Sutton. Attendees experienced kemetic yoga and reiki, and played a variety of games while listening to vibes curated by DJ M$NP.
