My Why: I choose myself first. I was going about things the wrong way for so long by putting everyone else before me. Once I made myself a priority, doing this type of work became more productive and natural for me. I was no longer working from just a place of pain. I was now walking in my purpose.
A-ha Moment: When I was 18, Melanin.Tech had not crossed my mind just yet but that's when I realized that no matter what I would do as my profession, it would be to help people.
How I’m Making a Difference Right Now: I'm assisting in the growth and advancement of the Black tech ecosystem.
My Self-Care Recipe For Success: I am so serious about my alone time! I know without it I can barely function. So every week I take a full day for myself and do whatever my body is calling. It starts with "Do Not Disturb" mode on my phone and can end with anything from spa treatment to hiking a nearby trail. Whatever feels right is what I go with.
Advice for Movement Makers: Protect the asset at all costs. You are the asset. Without you, the work you care so deeply about does NOT happen.
