Tips for Making the Most of Social Media Content
The Something in the Water festival not only brought thousands of people to DC but opportunities to connect with ambitious people of color. We attended the #SITW Black Ambition brunch at Busboys and Poets and have three key takeaways from a conversation between “Because of Them, We Can™” creator Eunique Jones Gibson and Kezia M. Williams, CEO of The Black UpStart.
Here are a few tips to help you utilize social media for brand awareness, engagement, and ultimately getting customers:
Do what moves you
Life is too short to do something you don’t actually care about - that includes social media. Find the platform that works for you and then rock it. Success flows from being authentic in only the way that you can.
Have a council of people
We go farther together. Having people that you can bounce ideas off of and get real feedback from is worth as much as gold. Make sure these people are willing to be honest and direct with you while also being encouraging and supportive. They’ll help you level up your creativity and content!
Just because somebody didn't like your content doesn't mean it's not good
Working the Instagram algorithm these days is hard! But social media is still worth it. Be consistent, be patient, and be smart. Make shareable content especially to support your brand awareness goals.
Hope these tidbits keep you inspired, encouraged, and motivated. Want funding for your big idea? Learn more about the Black Ambition prize here.
